What to Expect

Tanzania  is the untamed half of east Africa, the raw safari experience that first drew explorers from around the world, home to endless savannah, volcanic mountains, the Great Migration and the towering walls of the Ngorongoro Crater.

A few hours away is mighty Mount Kilimanjaro itself, where adventure seekers can hike through a series of wildly different landscapes in a bid to reach the pinnacle of Africa, accompanied by a full complement of hardy porters and experienced guides. Although the mountain can be summited without having to do any serious climbing, it is still to be respected. Though the summit of Kilimanjaro lies among the clouds, those wanting to stand upon the mountain need not climb to the very top, as special excursions cater for short hikes and picnic lunches on its slopes.

Creating yet another rugged and scenic landscape nearby, the Rift Valley plunges down to the shores of tranquil Lake Manyara in a series of steep cliffs. Shallow and fed by the runoff from the high escarpment along its side, Manyara is home to great multitudes of pink-feathered flamingo throughout the year. The verdant national park that lies along its shores is famed for high concentrations of wildlife, including its unusual tree-climbing lion.

Itinerary

Day 0Arusha

When you arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport or Arusha Airport, you will be greeted. For supper and overnight HB, proceed to Your Lodge. (30 minutes, 40 km)

Day 1Tarangire National Park

The tour ends after breakfast. Before we go on safari, we’ll stop in Arusha Town for some last-minute purchases. After a short drive, we arrive at Tarangire National Park for a game drive and a cookout lunch at the community center. Tarangire is known for its large elephant population as well as its baobab trees. It forms the center of an annual transitory period that includes up to 3000 elephants, 25,000 wildebeest, and 30,000 zebras. At Your Lodge, we’ll have supper and spend the night.

Day 2 Serengeti National park

After breakfast, depart for Serengeti National Park, passing through Karatu’s beautiful highland agriculture and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. We abandon the good countries and enter the heart of wild Africa, the Serengeti National Park, with its endless fields that, as should be evident, fold into the distance. Then listen to the Seronera field, one of the most lavish untamed life habitats in the recreation center, emphasizing the Seronera River, which provides a significant water supply for this area and thus attracts natural life well agents of the majority of the Serengeti’s organisms. Show up on schedule for lunch and appreciate an evening game drive in the Serengeti public park. Supper and overnight at Lodge 2 evenings.

Day 3Serengeti National Park

Serengeti National Park game drive for the whole day, including tracking the wildebeest migration. Serengeti Kati Tented Camp hosts supper and overnight stays.

Day 4 Serengeti National Park - Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After an early morning game trip, return to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. We’ll go to Olduvai Gorge, where we’ll be able to brag about a series of adventures that go all the way back to the dawn of time. The skulls of ‘Nutcracker Man’ and ‘Jack of all trades,’ both crucial links in the chain of human advancement, were discovered here by anthropologists Drs. Lois and Mary Leakey. Late in the evening, move to the Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge, where you can feed and expedite your safari.

Day 5Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha – Airport

You will slip more than 600 meters into the cavity after an early breakfast to see untamed life. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which is supported by year-round water and grub, is home to a diverse range of animals, including herds of wildebeest, zebra, bison, eland, warthog, hippo, and monster African elephants. Another huge draw to this fun public park is its dense population of hunters, which includes tigers, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the ever-elusive panther, which takes a trained eye to find on occasion. We’ll go to Lake Magadi, a large but shallow simple lake in the southwestern corner of the pit, which is one of the pit’s main attractions. An enormous number of flamingos, hippos and other water birds can ordinarily been seen here.

Late evening move to Arusha For supper and Overnight or air terminal drop off. Convenience can be incorporated upon demand at additional expense
